Join us as we travel in our custom 12 bunk entertainer coach as we make our way across New England and into one of Canada's premier cities Montréal. Each day will be filled with great activities for us to have fun, learn something new and even challenge ourselves. After a night at Tanglewood Camp we will rise early and start our journey heading west through Maine with a stop at a farm to lend a helping hand. After getting a little dirty and having lunch our trip will continue across New Hampshire and into Vermont for our second stop. In Barre, VT we will explore the extraordinary Hope Cemetery. I know, why would we put a cemetery on our itinerary? It is because of the astonishing tombstones that make this graveyard (opened in 1896) an art gallery, celebrating life in the midst of death with some of the most compelling, and quirky, art cemetery stonests in the nation. From Barre we will finish the days travel with a short drive to Gold Brook Campground in Stowe, VT.
After a delicious camp breakfast we will get back on the road for the final leg of the trip to Montreal with a "required" stop at the Ben & Jerry's Factory in Waterbury, VT. Once in the city we will visit the Montréal Biodôme offering a close encounter with its four Ecosystems of the Americas, where over 4,800 animals from 230 different species and 750 plant types coexist under the same roof. After the Biodôme we will drive through Montreal on our way to our campground for the next two nights just outside the city.
On our third day we will volunteer in the morning at Moisson Montréal Food Bank. This is the largest food bank on the Island of Montréal and is an impressive operation. After lunch we will make our way back downtown for some city sightseeing. There is a lot to see in this unique city, including the underground city (the largest underground complex in the world), Mont Royal Park and the Old Port of Montréal.
We will begin our trip back on the forth day but not before what may be the most exciting ride of your life! We will once again find ourselves back in the Old Port but this time to experience something a little more modern - jet boating on the Lachine Rapids of the St. Laurence River. Speaking from personal experience, this is a true once in a life time experience that will not soon be forgotten. Afterwards, wet and wide-eyed, we will all load back into the bus to begin our trip back to Maine. We will split the trip back up with another night at camp before arriving at Tanglewood on Friday with lots of stories to share.
